Dartmouth Remembrance Service 2023

On a cloudy Sunday the 12th November 2023 The Band provided musical support for the Dartmouth Remembrance Service. Performing in the Bandstand the band played through a selection of poignant pieces including, Nimrod from Elgar's Enigma Variations, Beethovens Funeral March, Solemn Melody and the main theme from the Band of Brothers. The Hymns included God Is Our Strength and Refuge (The Dambusters March) and O God our Help In Ages Past.

The Service was very well attended with the Royal Avenue Gardens, Dartmouth overflowing with , family and visitors from far and wide. Cadets and Staff from Britannia Royal Naval College made up the largest contingent and filled the fairly limited space within the Gardens. Royal Marines Bugler Gill Forde of the Band of His Majesty's Royal Marines, Commando Training Centre Royal Marines sounded a flawless Last Post and Reveille which added an air of perfection to this important event in everyone's calendar.

Many local shops in the town including the Devon Air Ambulance and the Cancer Research charity shops put a lot of effort and pride into dressing their windows appropriately for Remembrance. I am delighted to include some photos of their incredible window dressings below.
